Milky Currents
Þjórsá river, Iceland
Milky Currents
The Þjórsá river carries milky glacial water laden with fine sediments, eroded from volcanic rocks by the meltwater of Iceland's glaciers. As the river flows toward the ocean, the sediment-rich currents mix with mineral deposits, producing a striking contrast between the pale, opaque water and the yellow hues that emerge near the coastline. These mineral-laden waters create otherworldly textures and colors, resulting in dynamic, abstract landscapes that shift and evolve, offering a unique visual spectacle.
