Inclusions in Glacier Ice
Air bubbles trapped within the glacial ice of Vatnajökull in Iceland are a result of the gradual accumulation and compression of snow, forming layers of ice over time. During this process, air becomes sealed within the ice in the form of tiny bubbles in endless variations and shapes. These bubbles act as a time capsule, preserving samples of ancient Earth atmospheres, making them a valuable resource for scientific analysis of past climates and atmospheric compositions.
