Swamplands
Talkeetna, Alaska (USA)

Swamplands
The swamplands near Talkeetna reveal a striking tapestry of meandering channels, dark pools, and vibrant green moss. Shaped by seasonal flooding and the gradual buildup of sediments, these low-lying basins emerge as fluctuating water levels carve out natural depressions, forming distinct borders between pools. Rich orange and brown tones, produced by iron deposits and decaying vegetation, create a vivid contrast against the bright green moss.
This dynamic interaction of water, sediment, and vegetation forms a constantly shifting ecosystem, highlighting the untamed beauty of Alaska’s wilderness.
