Bjarnarflag Power Plant
The Bjarnarflag is currently the smallest geothermal power station in Iceland and is operated by the Icelandic national power company Landsvirkjun. It’s located near Námafjall Mountain in the geothermal area of Lake Mývatn.
The station was officially launched in 1969 and is therefore one of the oldest geothermal plants in Iceland. It’s able to generate 3 MW (18 GWh/year) using a single steam power unit. The goal of this series was to show the unique volcanic landscape in conjunction with elements of surreal industrial architecture, which form a kind of special symbiosis.
